Junior Sales Representative

Employment Type: Part-Time, Ongoing, On-Site
Compensation: $18.25 per hour
Reporting to: West Trek Division Lead

Founded as a division of Uniglobe Specialty Travel Ltd. in 2005, DCT is a local family owned and operated business located in downtown Vancouver. Our portfolio of brands under Discover Canada Tours include: Discover Canada Student Adventures, Destination Snow, West Trek, West Trek Social Club, and most recently Discover Vancouver Tours.
West Trek is a division of DCTfor budget-conscious students, young adults and young-at-heart travellers. Our West Trek Social Club also brings the community of local and international students together by running weekly and monthly parties, sports events and free social activities.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Reporting to the West Trek Division Lead, the Junior Sales Representative will be responsible for assisting the promotion and sales initiatives and procedures of Discover Canada Tours, with a focus on frontline sales initiatives and promotional activities for the West Trek division. This role centers on providing excellent customer service and helping maintain and grow assigned accounts, as well as helping run activities and events in collaboration with to promote West Trek products and continue growing the collaborative relationships that West Trek has with ESL schools and other education institutions.
As a Junior Sales Representative, your core responsibilities include:
Sales Coordination
- Manage, promote and sell tours and activities at assigned accounts through the reservation systems.
- Maintain and manage sales materials (e.g., maps, brochures, sales float, and more) and ensure daily sales records are accurate and up to date.
- Upsell additional experiences to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize sales opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Sales team by sharing customer feedback and contributing ideas to strengthen our direct-to-consumer strategy.
- Attend in-office sales meetings to update the status of accounts to the Sales team and the Management team.
- Answer the office phone to attend to customers’ inquiries and direct calls to the appropriate person.
- Attend to walk-in customers and all front-desk duties.
- Assist in the organization of custom group requests.
Activities Coordination
- Lead assigned activities and events such as walking tours, after school activities, sporting events, BBQs, and other special events operated by West Trek.
- Work in collaboration with the Sales & Activities Coordinator(s) to prepare, plan, and execute activities and events for student groups.
- Developing and implementing special events, activities and promotions (including pop-up activities).
- Help motivate and lead the practicum team.
- Organize custom teen and junior activity programs.
Operations Support
- Assist with general tour operations initiatives from time-to-time.
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend and network at different trade events, and industry gatherings and Galas
- Identifying and soliciting our services and tours to new clients, target groups, and organizations.
- Participate in Familiarization (FAM) trips to experience our tours and attractions firsthand.
- Studying and analyzing competitors pricing and products.
Qualifications:
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Strong English language skills, both oral and written
- Prior experience in sales or customer service, preferably within the Tourism, Hospitality, Events, or Entertainment industries
- Preferably enrolled in or recently completed post-secondary education in Tourism, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field
- Confident in communicating clearly and effectively, with a focus on helping others make informed decisions
- Passionate about travel and knowledgeable—or eager to quickly learn—about destinations in Western Canada
- Motivated to gain real-world tourism experience and contribute positively to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Comfortable with upselling and promoting products to maximize sales opportunities
- Capable of planning, leading, and coordinating activities and events
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle an asset
- Multilingual abilities are considered an asset
