This position is ideal for someone looking to supplement their income with secondary position, a retired mechanic not wanting to put their tools down yet (and earn part time income) or a experienced mechanic looking for a fresh start or change of scenery

Job Description:
Reporting to the Owner, Operations Manager and Fleet Supervisor, the Fleet Mechanic will be primarily accountable for ensuring our fleet is excellently maintained and up to all safety standards.
Specific duties may include but are not limited to:
To perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on vans and mini coaches in a safe, efficient, quality minded and customer focused manner. Arrange repairs with third party shops if we lack equipment or skill in house.
Responsibilities
- General maintenance and repair of vans and mini coaches
- Maintenance and repair of brake systems, suspensions, engines, hydraulics, electrical, air conditioning, fuel systems, transmissions and driveline components
- Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors and colleagues regarding repairs and issues
- Work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Must be willing to work nights for emergency call outs and/or weekends
- Must be willing to be on call
Fleet Operations:
- Oversee maintenance of the in-house fleet of 11+ mini-coaches
- Schedule CVIP inspections
- Maintain Regular service schedule
- Repair or arrange major repairs on vehicles to keep them in safe service
- Organise e-documentation and hard copy filing of all things fleet related
- Have the ability to assess problems and possibly do minor body repairs and maintenance
Logistics and Operations:
- Maintain equipment and supply inventory at the yard
- Assist our drivers while they are on tour (via phone call) if they have any fleet-related questions or concerns.
- Operate as Mobile mechanic if needed
Additional duties:
- Oversee bus yard, including maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment at the yard
- Organise and keep up-to-date all required fleet documentation & permits; Including Commercial Vehicle Inspections, NSC, Insurance, PTB Certification, DOT Update, repair logs, fuel logs
- Maintain and inspect driver logs through Samsara & ELD log monitoring

- Assist our drivers while they are on tour (via phone call) if they have any fleet-related questions or concerns.
- Operate as Mobile mechanic if needed
Qualifications
- 2-3 plus years of experience and a sound understanding and working knowledge of all bus related workings and repairs
- Must hold a valid driver’s licence, Class 4 or higher, with a demonstrated safe driving record and responsible vehicle operation over the past 5 years
- Must be capable, after on the job training, of possibly upgrading and maintaining a class 2 or 3 licence with airbrake endorsement
Workweek:
- Flexible hours - On Call, as needed (Tours run 7 days a week in the summer)
- Per hour schedule (Clock in and out)

- Flexibility due to the dynamic nature of the industry
- Class 4 unrestricted or Class 2 drivers licence mandatory
- Mechanical experience mandatory, advanced knowledge and experience an asset
Remuneration:
- This is a part-time per-hour position to start but could become more full-time upon successful probation period if wanting and willing.
Future Objectives:
- We would like to see this position eventually grow into a full-time position with added driver duties
- Class 2 - with air brakes ( willing to pay for endorsement for right candidate)
Compensation
$40.00 - $45.00 per hour
